Climate & Community Resilience

Climate change is a complex threat that undermines the development and wellbeing of people, especially women, youth, and marginalized communities. It intensifies food insecurity, increases vulnerability to extreme weather events, and exacerbates social and economic inequalities. Community Consortium Uganda (CCU) strengthens community resilience by equipping communities with the knowledge, tools, and networks to anticipate, respond to, and recover from climate shocks. We partner with youth, women, and local leaders to co-create solutions, promote sustainable livelihoods, and foster environmental stewardship.

With this investment, CCU will institutionalize youth climate leadership, embed community-driven solutions in government plans, and spark systemic change that lasts beyond donor funding.

Building Climate-Resilient Communities

CCU uses a Human Centered Design and leverages local knowledge and participatory approaches to empower women, youth, and community leaders as agents of climate resilience. Through innovative, community-driven programs, we help communities adapt to environmental changes and safeguard livelihoods:

Strengthening local leadership and skills

We train community members, youth clubs, Youth Climate Leadership Incubator, and local leaders on climate-smart agriculture, sustainable energy solutions, climate justice, and emergency preparedness, ensuring inclusive participation and long-term impact.

Supporting locally-driven solutions

By engaging communities in participatory design, CCU ensures that climate interventions are contextually relevant and responsive to local needs, from agroforestry initiatives to youth-led environmental advocacy.

Promoting knowledge-sharing and innovation

We facilitate peer-to-peer learning, community dialogues, and experiential workshops to exchange practical skills, address barriers, and pilot new approaches to resilience.

Advancing gender equity and youth engagement

CCU empowers women and young leaders to take central roles in climate action, transforming harmful norms and increasing community agency and influence in decision-making.

Our Impact (2019–2025)

Sports provide for physical fitness and healthy living for all ages. Sports is a tool with values, disciplines that CCU and partners apply to deliver both functional and clinical intervention critical for positive change. It is this unique ability to engage people, bring them together that makes sports the perfect catalyst for sustainable and positive development in Uganda.
